In an interview with DAZN boxing, The Matchroom CEO, highlighted the importance of this fight. He claimed that this was supposed to be the biggest gate in the history of the O2 arena. Moreover, he also praised Benn’s star power despite not competing in the sport for a year.

We’re looking at Chris Eubank Jr. I mean, it was one of the biggest fights. I nearly promoted the biggest-selling fight ever at the O2, biggest opening gate at the O2. Whatever way you want to look at it, through the ups and downs and the controversy that Conor Benn had, he hasn’t been out of anyone’s mouth for a year. Like, he hasn’t boxed for a year and a half now. You know, these tests that he failed were a year ago now.” he said

You know we’ve been through the whole process with the WBC, they’ve reinstated him in the rankings. We’re going through the process with UCAD and the British Boxing Board of Control” he added
