Devin Haney revealed his decision to move up to the 140-pound weight class a few months ago. This was in preparation for his upcoming fight with Regis Prograis, the reigning WBC super lightweight champion. Haney holds the WBO, WBA, and IBF belts and is the champion in recess for the WBC. This is not enough for the fighter who is desperate to test himself more. Both fighters, considered highly formidable in their respective weight classes, are gearing up for a spectacular face-off on December 9.

Haney recently shared a training video on his Instagram page. Fans could not fathom the sudden weight shift and what amount of rigorous training and a strict diet would facilitate it. Let us take a tour of the comments section.

“I don’t know how this man cuts down to 135 n 145, baffles me,” stated one fan, expressing their disbelief at Haney switching weights for the fight.

“Better resume than Floyd had when he was 24,” wrote another fan lauding Haney’s achievements, calling him a better fighter than Mayweather.

Can’t be mad, the kid is good and he is proving it but I wanna see him in there with Shakur plus I wanna see how he deals with Regis and his flat feet Haney footwork is good,” stated another fan who was impressed by Haney’s progress.

“He bouta knock Regis out,” remarked another fan who had no doubts about who would emerge victorious in the upcoming fight.

“Devin look big enough to take Bradley Martin,” said another fan referring to the Fitness YouTuber.

Another fan who believes Haney will be able to stir up some trouble for the ones in the 140 division by stepping into their arena, wrote, “two-division undisputed champ coming soon, Regis getting whooped, and everyone at 140 in trouble.”

Fans do not have any second thoughts when it comes to betting on Haney for the fight. Haney now has the task of proving them right.

Regis Prograis raises doubts about Haney’s capabilities

Regis Prograis, the WBC world super lightweight champion, has expressed uncertainty about Devin Haney’s ability to compete at 140lbs. Haney, a former holder of all four world titles at lightweight, is venturing into unfamiliar territory. Prograis, however, is an experienced fighter in the 140lb category and a two-time champion in this weight class. Based on these points, he questions Haney’s punching power as he transitions to this new weight division. Haney is widely regarded as one of the world’s top pound-for-pound talents.
