‘The Golden Boy’ has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons. Fans and followers were still coming to terms with the online spat between Oscar De La Hoya and Ryan Garcia. And then the bomb drops that the former world champion-turned-promoter filed a lawsuit against his charge. Despite the developments, De Le Hoya remains an optimist who prefers looking ahead. His latest tweet early today epitomizes the fighting spirit that elevated him to the top echelons of boxing back in the day.
De La Hoya mentioned being tied up with several activities for the year’s second half. While there is a match between Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Eimantas Stanionis, there are plans afoot to return Jaime Munguía and William Zepeda. Most important of all, he expects a big bout for Ryan Garcia.

Calling De La Hoya the finest promoter in boxing, a user named Jose Miranda mentioned that he is the only boxer who runs a top-level promotional venture. Given the efforts he is putting in for the sport, Miranda urged all boxing lovers to support him wholeheartedly.
Best promoter in the game ‼️‼️.. ONLY former fighter with an elite level promotional company.. all boxing fans should support and appreciate your hustle and grind for the sport ‼️‼️

Goading Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroon to learn a thing or two from the Golden Boy Promotions, the following user said that the latter comes up with some of the best contests. Lining up good boxers against each other ensures full-fledged progress in prospects’ careers.
Golden boy puts up the best fights! Great matchmaking, great development of future stars. Matchroom needs to learn from GBP. Let’s go @OscarDeLaHoya

However, taking a different approach, Chris Strait mentioned that back in the old days, De La Hoya fought five times in 1997. Hence he contends that such a fixture should return. Inaction has relegated boxing to the back burner, Strait said.
You fought 5 times in 1997. Bring THAT back. Inactivity has shoved the sport into the background.

Meanwhile, one user seems discouraged. While he used to admire Oscar De La Hoya as a boxer, he remains below average as far as promotions go. The Davis-Garcia fight exemplified it at best. In all probability, ‘KingRy’ might try to wrest himself out of the contract soon, the user said.
I use to love the boxer he was but honestly he’s a terrible promoter and it’s really showing since the Tank fight I hope Ryan gets outta the contract soon
You have stained your reputation

Another user also admonished De La Hoya for living in an imaginary world. All he’s got at hand are two fighters whose skills are average. Meanwhile, a third boxer plans to file a case against him, the user said.
What a delusional guy. 2 mediocre fighters and a guy who is suing him to get out of his contract. That would motivate no one.
