In the annals of boxing history, some moments have etched themselves into the fabric of everyone’s memory. One such example is the unforgettable moment when Muhammad Ali knocked out George Foreman in the eighth round of their legendary fight. The venue was Zaire, where the iconic ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ unfolded. Decades have passed since that fateful night, but Ali’s outstanding performance has failed to disappear from everyone’s collective memories.

Recently, a user took to Facebook to share an aerial view picture of the aftermath of the knockout. Foreman lay flat on the canvas, devastated by Muhammad Ali’s knockout punch moments prior. Besides the goosebumps-inducing photo of Ali and Foreman, the user wrote in the caption, “Aerial view of George Foreman after the round 8 knockout by Muhammad Ali at Stade du 20 Mai.” As boxing fanatics, old and new, found the picture on Facebook, it inevitably brought back memories.

Since the picture went live on Facebook, the post has collected over 5.7K likes, 175 comments, and over 382 shares. If the numbers don’t signify the importance of that very moment, the comments fans left definitely will. Some commended the fight, some complimented the picture, and others sang praises for Ali.

One user wrote about the moment Foreman hit the canvas, claiming Ali could have punished Foreman further, but he showed mercy. The user wrote, “And Ali could have hit Foreman again while he was lurching around the ring semi-conscious, but he mercifully didn’t.” Interestingly, Foreman was out of breath and stamina; he could not stand straight, the reason behind his staggering movement.

The next user complimented the boxing event held in the Stade du 20 Mai stadium. The user called it the best fight of the entire 20th century. “Rumble in the jungle, the best fight of the 20th century,” the user commented. Notably, 60K people attended the event while over a billion people watched on television.

While other users were showering Ali with praise, one user highlighted Foreman’s accomplishments as well. “George, too, has a class of his own. Amazing how he made a comeback after retiring. Massive respect for both legends” wrote the user. George indeed made a remarkable comeback. In fact, he almost took down the legendary Evander Holyfield.

Someone else complimented the iconic picture and claimed Ali has forever etched his place in their heart. “Such a GREAT photograph! He will always be a champ in my heart,” the user wrote. On a similar note, this is not the only iconic picture of Muhammad Ali. An iconic picture of a young Ali standing over a knocked-out Sunny Liston is perhaps even more powerful.

One user announced his wish to have a twenty-one-year-old Muhammad Ali in the current boxing scene. “I wish we had a 21-year-old Muhammed Ali in 2023,” the user commented. If Ali’s prime days are any evidence, he would definitely take over the heavyweight division.
