Askren admitted he took the fight immediately after his hip replacement surgery and got into training as soon as he could. Considering his age and the complexity of the surgery, there is a chance that ‘Funky’ might have rushed into the fight sooner than he should have without taking the adequate rest needed.

Askren steps in against potentially his least experienced opponent to date and will receive the biggest payday of his career against Jake Paul. It will be interesting to see how well Askren has recovered from the surgery. Furthermore, it will be interesting to see if he has recovered well enough to move fluidly inside the ring to avoid Paul’s haymakers.

Do you think Askren rushed into accepting the fight? Should he have waited longer to recover? Let us know in the comments below!
