It is often said that a good bout of pugilism is a way to resolve differences and arguments. And most of the time, boxers aren’t the only ones who put their fists to use to get their word across. Apparently, college football happens to be a worthy contender for the same. In fact, two college football mascots were seen engaged in a sparring session.

Arizona State University has had a longstanding beef with the University of Arizona. And it can be said that Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Wildcats have shared a rivalry that is both profound and timeless. Moreover, their latest clash of this ‘Duel in the Desert’ was no different.

The duo recently faced each other at Arizona Stadium. While tensions flared in the field, the same transpired on the sidelines.

Just before the third touchdown, an all-out brawl took place between the mascots of both teams. And fans seemed more interested in watching Spark the Sun Devil and Wilbur the Wildcat, letting their hands do the talking. Moreover, it seemed like Wilbur took the major brunt during the ‘attack’. This happened just seconds before ASU quarterback Trenton Bourguet threw a touchdown to wideout Giovanni Sanders giving the Devils the lead.

However, things later turned bright for the Arizona Wildcats as they emerged as the victors in the match. And, in turn, also secured the Territorial Cup.

Fans react to Sparky the Sun Devil beating Wilbur the Wildcat

Fans were quite intrigued to see the tensions flaring between Sparky the Sun Devil and Wilbur the Wildcat. In fact, they took to social media to share their thoughts about the incident.

A lot of fans were quick to point out Sparky’s pugilistic prowess. And they even mentioned that he is not a mascot to be messed up.

Similarly, user @evillyndz also spoke about Sparky’s boxing skill, while also shedding light on the team’s loss.

Meanwhile, user @juliomv540 mentioned that Wilder ate the shots like a champ.

In the same vein, a few other fans also touched on the team’s loss. A fan even mentioned that Sparky came more prepared than the team.

However, a user was not too pleased to see the mascots fight. He even stressed the fact that mascots should never fight.
