Recent times have seen rapper, record producer, and designer Kanye ‘Ye’ West in the midst of contention. The rapper’s controversial comments also caused major brands to distance themselves, or cut ties, with him. However, it seems like Ye has found some support amidst this muddle. Ye was recently on the news for his comments. This, in turn, sparked massive outrage. And, several brands went on to terminate their collaborations with the rapper. Adidas halted production of the Yeezy line, which was a collaboration with Ye. Meanwhile, brands like GAP and Balenciaga quickly followed suit.
Speaking about cutting ties with Ye, a spokesperson from the company mentioned that his statements were against the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.
Tate, on the other hand, addressed the issue while hosting his show with his brother, Tristyn Tate. He initially mentioned that he was unsure of what Ye said. Tristyn Tate also added that the brands that canceled Ye, would have been nothing without him.
The older Tate further continued, “If he said something which is so heinous and so disgusting. And so genuinely untrue, then those ideas should be challenged. He should be allowed to speak, and people should challenge him and prove him wrong.”
Tate also mentioned that people are not proving him wrong by shutting him up and canceling him.
