Mathematically, two parallel lines never meet. God alone knows, but Terence Crawford and Danny Garcia followed the dictum word for word. Despite remaining in the same division for years, the two boxers, who kicked off their professional journeys around the same time for inexplicable reasons, never crossed paths. Though he fought almost every big name in the Welterweight division, the boxer, who made nearly $8 million in a career spanning over fifteen years, now seems keen on a Crawford fight. But what about the man himself? Would he be interested in such a showdown? As of now, it seems the least likely. Nevertheless, it has only helped lend ammo to the other party to stretch the discussion, amusing fans.

Crawford has become a hot property after his victory over Errol Spence Jr. Hence, a match with him could revive a sagging career. After losing the bout to Spence Jr. in 2020, Garcia took a break and returned last year to fight Jose Benavidez Jr. It’s just that both knew or were aware of each other’s presence in the 147-pound division. Now that his mere expression of interest had triggered a storm, Garcia took up the cudgels to defend his stand.

First slight, later invitations! Terence Crawford

Perhaps equations have changed since Terence Crawford demolished unified champion Errol Spence Jr. on July 29. So Marcos Viegas of Fight Hub TV asked whether he foresaw a Terence Crawford face-off. Danny Garcia replied, “I think it’s possible…it’s possible, but it’s more [on] my end. I [have to] go out there and look good [in] my next fight because we do [have] history; we fought twice [as] an amateur, so it’s like [we’ve] got history in the fight. I know him. He knows me, but it’s more on my end….

Crawford and Garcia do share history. They met as amateurs twice. Reportedly, while the first match favored ‘Swift,’ the Nebraska native paid back in the same coin during the second meet-up. However, it seems ‘Swift’ is not alone. Former champion Keith Thurman appears to be in the race, as he called out ‘Bud’ as soon as he was done with Spence Jr.

However, amidst all these developments, it appears Terence Crawford is having the last laugh. Launching his attack, he criticized both Garcia and Thurman for ignoring him, but they are now reaching out to him as a way to regain lost glory and perhaps a good payday.

Danny Garcia responded to the latest tweet, sharing that he doesn’t need a Crawford fight to make it big as he’s already made millions.

After Crawford’s latest posts,  Thurman returned with his explanation early today. Maybe when they gradually nudge towards the last leg of their careers, parting shots from boxers start zooming.

‘Bud’ knows where he will bloom

Even otherwise, ‘Bud’ clarified he was not facing divisional challenger Jaron’ Boots’ Ennis. Then, he also explained what Gervonta Davis needs to do if he fancies a fight with him. For all one knows, Terence Crawford is keenly watching out for a big match against either Jermell Charlo or Canelo Alvarez. Not to forget, given that Errol Spence Jr. has activated the rematch clause, he might as well have that to take care of. Perhaps the parallel lines were intended to meet.
