Four-division world champion, Adrien Broner, undoubtedly knows what it means to have an extraordinary fight day. In fact, in a quest for the same, he had also called out boxing superstar, Floyd Mayweather Jr. But with Mayweather ignoring this gargantuan call-out, it looks like Broner has his eyes set on another opponent. It was reported that he will be facing Ivan Redkach for a welterweight showdown.

‘The Can Man’ was last seen in the ring on February 20, 2021, showcasing a sensational performance against Jovanie Santiago. Broner further went on an almost 2-year-long hiatus, owing to his mental health struggles.

According to reports, Broner will be coming out of his hiatus to face Redkach for his BLK Prime debut. Moreover, the fight will take place in Atlanta on February 25, 2023, instead of the previously announced date of February 18. A potential venue for the fight is yet to be decided. However, there are speculations that the State Farm Arena (home of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks)  might emerge as the potential venue.

During a recent appearance at the Brian Custer podcast he opened up about his aspirations with the sport, And delving into his upcoming fight, Broner said, “I’m not just one of the elites. I’m one of the greats of all time. When I’m done, I’ll be in them books forever, man.”

He also revealed that he wishes to do a lot more with the sport of boxing.

Why did Adrien Broner call out Floyd Mayweather?

There is no denying that a fight with the five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather, is a sure-shot highway to a monumental payday. And Adrien Broner was sure to try and traverse the waters of a ‘Money’ Mayweather payday. Broner was scheduled to fight Omar Figueroa in August 2022. This was when he called Mayweather out for a 9-figure paycheck fight.

Talking about the same, he said, “If Floyd call me and say we gonna do an exhibition. I will stop that fight and we’ll be doing the fight in September. When the pay-per-view go off and we can do a fight in the September exhibition. It won’t go on neither one of our records it’s just culture and we walk away with 9 figures.”

However, Mayweather did not respond to Broner’s call out. Moreover, Broner also backed out of his fight against Figueroa.
