Even though Muhammad Ali isn’t with us anymore, his larger-than-life presence still captivates people around the globe. His daughters, in particular, have become the ultimate champions of his legacy. Just hours earlier, Maryum Ali took a moment to thank her sister Miya Ali for unearthing a gem from 45 years ago—a clip where ‘The Greatest’ himself playfully ribs Good Morning America host David Hartman.
You see, the thing was, Muhammad Ali was a guest on Good Morning America after his epic fight with Larry Holmes in 1980. And guess what? Arnold Schwarzenegger was also set to appear. When the show was about to cut to commercials, Hartman announced Schwarzenegger’s upcoming appearance, and Ali seized the moment to show off his classic humor.
Ali cheekily pronounced Schwarzenegger’s name as ‘Schwarzen***er’ and teased Hartman not to say it himself. This left the host flustered and repeatedly denying it, saying, “I didn’t say that, you said that!” But Ali didn’t let up, continuing to poke fun at Hartman’s struggle with the name. The studio audience couldn’t get enough of it, laughing their heads off at the whole situation.

Ali’s sharp wit made that moment unforgettable, leaving Hartman to doubt his pronunciation. Even after retiring from boxing the following year, Ali stayed in the spotlight, making sure his fans knew he was doing well. Sadly, however, he passed away in June 2016 due to septic shock in Scottsdale, Arizona.
But today, that hilarious clip made its rounds again, and Maryum Ali took to Instagram to share her appreciation alongside the clip. “Thanks for the laughs this morning, Dad… Thanks for sending this Sis @miya_mia_ali,” Maryum wrote. While many know Maryum and Miya, it’s intriguing to think about the rest of Ali’s family—after all, he had seven other children. So, who are they, and where are they now?

Ali’s daughter Hana is an author and loves to keep her dad’s legacy alive through her writing. Laila, perhaps the most famous of the bunch, followed in her father’s footsteps into the boxing world, becoming a champ in her own right. His youngest, Asaad, whom he adopted with his fourth wife, Lonnie, stays mostly out of the spotlight, living a quiet life.
That said, even in death, Muhammad Ali brought laughter and joy to his family and many others through his charm, wit, and humor. It was a perfect blend of nostalgia, humor, and celebration for those who continue to look back at his legacy, which undoubtedly was the foundation of modern boxing.
