Vargas, 28, is your typical prodigal boxer who went through the amateur ranks before transitioning to the pro world. The American boxer has attracted fans’ eyes with his technical, boxer-puncher approach. You can always expect him to outclass his opponents with his agility, precision, and effective counterpunching. That’s not it. His quick pair of legs might also sway you. It’s no wonder he has an impressive record of 18-1 with 10 KOs. If you want to get a clear picture of the Houston native’s perfect blend of aggression and calculation, you can look at his 55.56% KO ratio.

In addition, Vargas knows how to put his body dimensions to good use. He uses his height of 5’5″ (166 cm) and reach of 66.0″ (168 cm), which allows him to control the fight’s pace and maintain his distance. It enables him to employ his jabs and unload his heavy combinations as he continues to break down his opponents. But will it be the same case with Guerrero?

Guerrero, 24, is the younger of the two with more pro fights under his belt. His aggressive style has already garnered him a loyal fanbase. You will always witness him enjoying high-paced exchanges after relying on his power. However, the Managua native moved up a division in his last two fights, resulting in two distance fights this year, resulting in a drop of his KO ratio to 59.09%. But to challenge for the bantamweight division, he is again dropping back to 118. Therefore, Guerrero’s last weight was 120.3 lbs (54.5 kg), which was heavier than Vargas’ 117.6 lbs (53.3 kg) because of the division difference. Besides, he will carry the size advantage, as he stands tall at 5’6″ (168 cm). Interestingly, Guerrero’s reach is not listed on the internet. But the question is whether he has enough to take down Vargas.

It’s a mouthwatering contest. You can imagine Vargas banking on his quick footwork, agility, and technical prowess to keep Guerrero on the other end of his jab. He will try to keep the fight at a distance, where his counters could come into play and he can unload heavy blows. It’s all there in his lateral movement and his jabs to slowly chip away the fight from Guerrero and break him down.

Meanwhile, Guerrero will try to close the distance and force exchanges at close quarters. The ideal play for ‘El Fantasma’ would be to keep on high volume and overwhelm Vargas with his power. The latter’s chin has been tested in a couple of fights, and if Guerrero could do it again, he could hand Vargas another loss. But Vargas’ experience at the amateur level, his finesse, and precision hitting could shatter Guerrero and catch him lacking on counters when he would overcommit. While we have Vargas winning this by decision, Guerrero has what it takes to force a stoppage and take home the gold strap.
