Anthony Joshua and Jermaine Franklin clashed on the night of April 1 at the O2 arena in London. Even though Joshua prevailed in the fight via unanimous decision. The two were mandatorily tested for banned substances by VADA ahead of the fight. And the results of that test recently came out for both of them.

Joshua vs Franklin: Doping test results are out

Michael Benson from talkSPORT took to Twitter to reveal the test results for both fighters after almost two weeks since they fought. And undoubtedly, the duo cleared their respective test results and fought totally clean on the night of April 1.

The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) broke the news on Twitter, congratulating both boxers for successfully completing their drug tests for their April 1 fight. Amid increasing doping cases in the sports world, these two set a good example for aspiring professional boxers. And those who aim to make it big in the sport.

This was Joshua’s first win since his two consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. This fight is considered to be Joshua’s journey to the top again. And it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the former two-time unified heavyweight world champion. On the other hand, this fight was Franklin’s second consecutive loss as he lost his first bout against another British boxer, Dillian Whyte. Joshua and Whyte are the only two boxers who were able to make Franklin taste defeat.

A look into failed drug tests in Boxing

The sport is no alien to drug test fails. Over the years, numerous boxers have failed drug tests ahead of their fight. And the recent Conor Benn and Amir Khan controversies have only brought the issue to the limelight. Such failures only leave a bad imprint of the sport on the fans.

While it is true that some athletes have actually admitted to consuming banned substances for the sake of gaining an edge over their opponents, there have been cases when athletes have been proven innocent after a failed test.
