Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk’s magnanimous rematch has been in the works for months. It has been anticipated by the entire world, and it will finally take place in August. According to reports, the fight will take place in Saudi Arabia, and a large sum of money will be on the line in this historic combat.

The fight between Anthony Joshua and Usyk will cost a whopping $80 million to the stage. ‘AJ’ is noted for selling some of the era’s most prominent contests. In 2019, the Middle Eastern country hosted a rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr. Saudi Arabia paid roughly $60 million to host the match at the time.

Furthermore, Joshua and Usyk will each receive a huge portion of the large sum, which will be split in half. AJ, on the other hand, will be paid less for this fight than he did for Ruiz Jr because he had a substantial share in that fight. The Ministry of Sports and Skills Challenge Entertainment is a sports and entertainment firm based in Riyadh, which has sealed the deal.

The two titans fought for the first time in September 2021. The fight was billed as ‘The Perfect Storm’, and it set the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London electrifying. AJ was a big fan favorite, but the Ukrainian boxer showed his mettle and emerged as the champion.

The first bout had already pointed towards a sequel. Albeit, the second fight was supposed to occur in May, the Ukraine-Russia conflict put that on hold. The 35-year-old went back to his homeland to serve his country.     

Nevertheless, Ukraine’s sports ministry has given Usyk permission to return to his training camp and prepare for his fight with AJ. This fight on August 20 will decide not only who will be the champion between these two competitors, but it will also have a bigger future significance.

According to rumors, the victor of this battle will face Tyson Fury next. Although ‘The Gypsy King’ has retired, he has stated in interviews that he may return if a good deal is offered. Only time will tell how the fight plays out.
