He dropped one of the most fearsome fighters in combat sports history not once, but thrice. Hence, questions about ‘AJ’s legacy should subside. Even when he defeated Jermaine Franklin in his comeback fight after suffering back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk, questions persisted. Can ‘AJ’ bounce back to reclaim lost glory? He scored consecutive knockout wins over Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin. But talks carried on that the feats were accomplished against boxers had nothing to write home about. Perhaps they all waited for something extraordinary from Anthony Joshua. And it came against Francis Ngannou; The former world champion did what the current world champion ‘Gypsy King’ couldn’t – knock out the former UFC champion in devastating fashion.
Now the remarkable overnight twist of fate has rather opened the floodgates of opportunities for the former unified heavyweight champion. In a tête-à-tête with the media, ‘AJ’ reportedly discussed how he plans to keep himself busy for the remainder of the year.

Kugan Cassius of IFL TV caught up with the former heavyweight champion post-fight. He asked, “We assume that you’re not going to sit around waiting for two possible Fury Usyk fights. You want to get out as soon as possible, not soon as possible, but you want to get out in the summer, surely?” The latter, it seems, anticipates a return by June or July this year.
“Yeah, whether it’ll be in the UK, who knows, but maybe June June July,” replied Joshua.
When Cassius checked whether he would be eager for a bout against IBF’s number one ranking Filip Hrgovic, Anthony Joshua said, “Let’s go.”
Perhaps the former heavyweight champion posits that given the rematch clause binding both Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, there remains a high chance of either boxer relinquishing the existing belt. Hence, in that scenario, he could face Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight title. However, an all-British heavyweight boxing match between two titans is what the fans really want to see. And, it has been a long time coming!
A Dual in the Making: Vs. Tyson Fury
But that was not all. Citing Sky Sports, Michael Benson shared Anthony Joshua’s call out to bitter rival Tyson Fury. He reportedly said, “I’ll fight him in his back garden. I’m a fighting man. Wherever, whenever, however, it don’t matter. As long as we deliver for the fans, that’s the main thing.”

While speaking with Kugan Cassius, Anthony Joshua shared what he felt about Tyson Fury’s presence at the ringside. Putting it bluntly, he said, “F**k Tyson Fury.” Then, further explaining, he revealed how he didn’t appreciate some of the unsavory comments made by the WBC heavyweight champion.
“No, I was going to say, you know is I don’t like trash-talking people, but I heard him say something like, oh I’m here to do commentary about these two sausages…he’s just just too disrespectful, so forget what forget anything about him right,” said Joshua.
