Two-time Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is facing off against Francis Ngannou this Friday, but in a recent interview, the conversation went far beyond the upcoming fight. The 34-year-old opened up about his living situation, revealing he still resides with his mother. Joshua emphasized the value he places on family time, explaining how his frequent training keeps him away from home for extended periods.
Even though, it’s quite a predicament that a man who hurts people for a living could bear so much softness and empathy towards his family. This is the kind of side that the fighters don’t show quite often, but Joshua didn’t shy away from expressing his love for his mother. He’s always tried to stay near her and now, he’s given his reasons for doing so.

The Londoner is disrupting the conventional notion of “adulting” by living with his mom at 34. Apparently, that’s the champ’s life, and he’s content with it. Forget the pressure to fly solo in a fancy apartment. Joshua shows that success can take various forms. Perhaps it’s about prioritizing family, even when you’re a knockout machine in the ring. Moreover, he’s quite satisfied, as he’s been training for his upcoming fight against Francis Ngannou from his home.
In his conversation on the Good Morning Britain show, Joshua explained, “I realized that when I started training, I train away from home a lot. So if I’m away from home, for like let’s say 10 months of the year, and then when I get back, I’ve got to do commercial work. I realized that if I was to move out, I’d never actually see my mom. I’d never actually see any of my family.”
Furthermore, he continued, “So being at home with Mom when I get back, so obviously, throughout the year I’m away in different parts of the world, I got places where I can stay, but my actual base my home is with mom. So I can still wake up and see her and spend time with her when I can.” This question has been answered by the former boxing champion before as well, and during that time, he talked about how he’ll cope with his wife while living with his mother.

He stated, “When a girl gets with me, she ain’t just marrying me, she’s marrying my family. I still live with my mum. In our culture, we grew up in our own family home. We support our parents. Why am I going to move out and leave my mum by herself, for some girl?” So, Joshua is quite straightforward with what he wants from his life, and he doesn’t want his future wife to make him choose between herself and his mother.
