Even though Tyson Fury is making it seem like he is next in line to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship, the Ukrainian champ is still bound by his contract to honor the rematch with Anthony Joshua.
In a recent interview, Tyson Fury‘s coach, Sugar Hill Steward revealed that Anthony Joshua still has a good shot at shutting down Oleksandr Usyk. However, he believes the only way AJ could regain his throne is if he agrees to train with him and ‘The Gypsy King’ himself directly.

When asked about his pick for the Joshua vs Usyk rematch, Sugar Hill said, “That’s a tough one, me and Tyson offered to train him, Joshua, so I feel like if me and Tyson would train him, then…”

The reporter then asked Steward if Joshua comes and trains with him, would he then pick him as a favorite. Fury’s coach replied instantly – “Automatic knockout.”
Oleksandr Usyk wants Tyson Fury over Anthony Joshua
After the recent Vasyl Lomachenko-Commey clash, Oleksandr Usyk, who was in attendance, was asked if he would be open to fighting ‘The Gypsy King’ right away. He suggested that a clash with Fury would be ideal; skipping out on the Anthony Joshua rematch would be a step less for him to become the undisputed champion at heavyweight.
“Yes, of course, it’s one step less. I could fight for the undisputed heavyweight title,” said Oleksandr Usyk.
However, Top Rank top-dog Bob Arum does not want to be a part of the ‘step-aside’ complications. He does not want any part of intervening in the contractual obligations between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.
In a recent interview, the 90-year-old promoter said that they’re currently working on shaping up the Dillian Whyte mandatory fight. He added that even Usyk is under contract to fight AJ again next year.

“Forget these step asides. Let Joshua fight Usyk again. He has a contract to do that and let Dillian Whyte fight Tyson Fury. Whoever wins those two fights then fights for all the belts. I mean, it’s just a few months until it’s sorted out,” said Bob Arum.
