Anthony Joshua's earnings surpass Fury's—does money matter more than titles in boxing today?

Anthony Joshua is ending the year on a high. Despite dropping a fight against Daniel Dubois and losing an opportunity to be a three-time world champion, he has heavy pockets to show off for now. What’s more? He has surpassed the likes of Tyson Fury and Gervonta Davis.

Joshua, 35, has topped off his career earnings as he crossed the $200 million mark this year. Forbes claims he has picked up $75 million in 2024 from fighting alone. He is only second to Canelo Alvarez this year, only by $2 million, as the Mexican champion edges him out in the off-field earnings. They both earned $75 million from fighting this year. Meanwhile, the next boxer on the list is Fury, 36, who collected a total of $50 million in 2024, taking his career earnings to $150 million.

Interestingly, Davis, 30, has beefed up his bank account by at least $50 million since he started donning boxing gloves. His fights with Ryan Garcia and, most recently, Frank Martin alone left him wealthy by almost $20 million. ‘KingRy’ has surged out to a PPV star, as he has amassed over $40 million in career earnings. Notably, Joshua, at 28-4, earned over $40 million in his first two fights with Oleksandr Usyk. Before that, the fans could already witness an upward trajectory from his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr. in Saudi Arabia, where he pocketed $65 million.

The fans might also remember his high-paying affair against Francis Ngannou last year, where he took home $50 million. You add his consecutive $12 million apiece against Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius and a similar pay for his six fights when he put on a show for the fans in Wembley and the Principality Stadium, and you would end up with a figure that crosses the $200 million mark. You should note that these figures may not be exact, as different sources may have varying estimates. However, they give the fans a general idea of these fighters’ career earnings. Joshua could add more to his wealth if he fights ‘Gypsy King’ next.

Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury: a treasure vault

Joshua is currently catering to the injuries that he sustained in his last fight with ‘Triple D’. In addition, he needed rest because of his recent increased activity. So, the two-time world champion wants to wait for the outcome of Usyk vs. Fury 2, and if his fellow compatriots lose the rematch, then he could pursue a fight with him.
