The Jake Paul vs Mike Perry boxing event billed as “Fear No Man” promises some exciting undercard fights. One of which includes the fight between Angel Barrientes and Edwin Rodriguez. Hailing from Las Vegas Nevada, the 21-year-old young boxer Barrientes will be facing a 31-year-old journeyman from Puerto Rico. The fight will be showcased on DAZN, and it will be a big opportunity for the up-and-coming-fighter Barrientes to display his talent at such a mega stage. Promoted by Boxlab Promotions, the fighter will step into the squared circle for a six-round bout at super-bantamweight. “I’m really excited to be fighting on such a big card, especially at super bantamweight, my normal weight class,” Barrientes said. Aptly nicknamed “AK-47”, Barrientes is itching to let his hands go in the upcoming contest. He will be moving back to his preferred weight class after having his last fight against Ernesto Sebastian Franzolini at featherweight. To give you a taste of what a dangerous fighter he is, the Las Vegas native knocked out Franzolini with a thunderous body shot in the first round. However, the fighter he is facing will be no pushover.
Although Rodriguez has faced many defeats in his 12-year storied professional career, he has never been knocked out in his professional career. The much older boxer from Puerto Rico will be looking to evoke his warrior spirit as he steps into the ring against Barrientes. It remains to be seen if the more experienced fighter can spoil the party for the more youthful and exuberant pugilist from Las Vegas.

On the other hand, the young Angel Barrientes has padded up a noteworthy record of 11-1. The one loss in his career came in his fourth professional fight against a much older Travon Lawson in 2020. However, the knockout defeat became a distant memory for him as he went on a seven-fight winning streak after that. Boxing since childhood, he harbors dreams of becoming a world champion, and the upcoming event will surely boost his visibility. “A win on July 20th will be a giant step in the right direction. It will open up more opportunities and bring me closer to my goal of becoming a world champion. I’m ready to seize this moment and make the most of it,” a hopeful Barrientes remarked.
Both fighters don’t have elite names on their records. But, Barrientes will be looking for that statement KO victory on the big stage to inch closer to a world title fight. As for the journeyman, he will be looking to cause a major upset on fight night. But before predicting the outcome of the fight, let us look at the physical attributes of both pugilists.

Who has the statistical advantage?
Sadly for Edwin Rodriguez, Barrientes has a significant height and reach advantage. The Honolulu native is 5′ 10″ with 72″ reach, eclipsing his Puerto Rican opponent who is 5′ 5″ tall with a 67″reach. Quite clearly, Barrientes will be working on his jab to keep the shorter fighter at range and try to inflict maximum damage by fighting on the outside. In terms of weight, both have been fighting at bantamweight for a long time. However, Barrientes will be climbing down to his preferred weight class after his recent win in May.
But, whose punches have the most power? Angel Barrientes has a KO ratio of 63.64%, finishing seven of his twelve opponents via knockout. Meanwhile, Edwin Rodriguez has stopped only five of his twenty-two opponents, securing a knockout ratio of 41.67%

With his near-spotless boxing record and significant height, reach, and age advantage, it looks like an easy fight for the younger pugilist. Being, an aggressive boxer who isn’t gun-shy, he will be looking for an early knockout. But in Barrientes’ own words, he wouldn’t mind going the distance. “I just want to go out there and let my hands go. Rodriguez is a very durable fighter who has never been stopped so my goal will be to get the knockout, but I’m prepared to go the distance if need be,” he said confidently.
