Kimmel asked Ruiz why are there not enough Mexican heavyweights in boxing, to which Ruiz reverted, “I don’t know, I don’t think their parents are giving them too many rice and beans like my mom did. But luckily I am one of the big ones.”

The whole studio cracked up laughing when Ruiz made these remarks.

On a number of occasions, Ruiz has credited his family for making him what he is. Last year, when he dismantled Joshua in their first matchup, his entire family was present inside the arena to see Ruiz bag the ultimate heavyweight golds.

That night, Ruiz became the only man from Mexico to achieve this feat. He gave Joshua his first professional loss through a demolishing T/KO.
