While many fans are still ruing the loss of a big fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, the Gypsy King may have found his new opponent to test his mettle. Former Heavyweight title holder Andy Ruiz Jr. seems to have attested to the big announcement of a monumental clash with the current WBC Heavyweight champion in July.

Thirty-three-year-old Ruiz Jr. is yet to have a title fight since his defeat at the hands of Anthony Joshua on December 7, 2019. His latest bout, a non-title one, was against Luis Ortiz on September 22 last year which he won by unanimous decision. Fury, on the hand, had been relatively active. He fought twice last year, defending his titles against Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora‘s challenges.

It’s been some time since talks of a fight between the Mexican-American boxer and the Mancunian champion have been making the rounds. On March 23, ‘The Destroyer,’ through his Twitter handle @Andy_destroyer1, shared a pic where he is facing Fury. His message read, “Let’s do this…

So on Instagram, he re-posted the announcement, ‘Tyson Fury vs. Andy Ruiz Jr is official! July 22nd.‘ Interestingly he added an emoji representing the United Kingdom as well. Now some reports are suggesting that the fight might take place in Wembley Stadium. However, no confirmation has come from any of the fighters.

Fans might remember roughly two weeks before, even ‘The Gypsy King’ was hinting towards his next fight after the disappointing breakdown of negotiations for the Usyk bout.

He said, “I’ve got some massive, massive news coming. An imminent fight date, an absolutely monstrous fight. Keep tuned because the WBC world heavyweight king is back in action coming very, very soon.
