Nicknamed ‘The Destroyer’, Andy Ruiz Jr. has mostly been the underdog in his boxing career. However, his professional journey doesn’t reflect the same as he has one of the most intriguing records. The former world champion boasts 33 wins alongside 2 losses in a 12-year-long active career.

Meanwhile, he has achieved 22 of those wins via knockout and holds a KO ratio of 62.86%. While these numbers speak for themselves. Ruiz Jr, has achieved much more in his boxing ride. Coming off as an overweight puncher, he terrorized the division with his prowess. While he seems ready for another championship run ahead, here’s a look at some of his career achievements.

In 2019, ‘The Destroyer’ made history and landed a historic fight that will go down as one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight boxing history. Andy Ruiz Jr. stepped up to fight for the world titles against an undefeated Anthony Joshua.

None of the fans gave him a chance, and Joshua was predictably the pre-fight favorite. It appeared justified as ‘AJ’ began the fight with some sharp jabs and took over Ruiz Jr. in no time. But ‘The Destroyer’ turned the tables and unleashed his power in the later rounds.

He landed big shots and stunned Anthony Joshua, whose reactions made it seem as though he had never been on the receiving end of such power. As the violent encounter reached round seven, Ruiz Jr. made a huge statement by knocking out ‘AJ’. He became the first man to beat the British champion and became the first-ever Mexican heavyweight champion.

WOAH! Never been knocked out

In 35 fights, Ruiz Jr. has only lost twice, and both were world championship bouts. After winning the titles against Anthony Joshua in June 2019, he surrendered them in a rematch. However, he also lost one more shot at the world title, his first one, where he squared off against Joseph Parker in 2016.

None of his rivals could stop him in a fight. His only two losses have come via decisions, and Ruiz Jr. remains knockout-free in the deadly heavyweight division. While elites like Dillian Whyte, Anthony Joshua, and many more have suffered KO losses in their careers, Andy Ruiz Jr. still stands out amongst all.
