Ryan Garcia seems determined to keep his feud with Caleb Plant alive. Over the past few months, fans witnessed a bitter feud sparking between the two. The squabble hit the boiling point at the Gervonta Davis–Frank Martin fight. Now, after a long break of over 12 months, Caleb Plant is set to return to the ring. He will feature on the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez–Edgar Berlanga clash.
Plant last fought David Benavidez on March 25 last year. Thereafter emerged an array of potential matchups; none ever came to fruition, though. Finally, he got a fight. Now with just a week left for the crucial return, the dormant beef with Ryan Garcia seems to have hit a fresh note. The Californian found an opportunity to share his thoughts on the Plants, the upcoming bout, and the lawsuit.

Speaking with the Fight Hub reporter, Ryan said that, in all probability, Caleb Plant might lose the bout on September 14. The reporter checked for the opponent’s name. Garcia replied, “Some guy, Trevor McCumby or something. Like that.” So the reporter inquired whether Garcia, following his now viral callout to Terrence Crawford, would follow up with a showdown against Caleb Plant.

“Shout out chance,” replied ‘KingRy’. Then calling ‘Sweethands’ a ‘clown’, he recalled how the former super middleweight champion went at him with a ‘beer bottle’. Thankfully, his security detail intervened on time and checked Plant, preventing the situation from deteriorating further. So, “I don’t want no problem. Bro, you do want problems, bro. If you didn’t want problems, you wouldn’t have hit me with a beer can and then had your ex or ex-wife sue me. That was weird,” stressed Ryan Garcia.
Just to refresh the memory, in a separate interview, Ryan Garcia seemingly raised questions over Terence Crawford’s resume. Speaking on the ‘Say Cheese’ podcast, Garcia disputed whether the P4P best had genuinely tackled any opponent of caliber. Addressing ‘Bud’ Crawford as ‘overhyped bum’ and boring, he said, “Come see me in the ring if you think I’m talking sh*t.”

Sharing his thoughts on the matter, Caleb Plant said, “When you start talking about somebody’s wife and you know things of that matter, you know it kind of makes it a little different.” Then ‘Sweethands suggested that perhaps Garcia might need help managing his behavior. “I know he needs a lot of help, and if he keeps it up, I think he’s going to get the help he’s looking for,” said Plant.
Ryan Garcia made his appearance at the MGM Grand Arena, well protected by his security guards. However, for Caleb Plant, the matter had reached the level where he couldn’t let it slide so easily. Hence, after the headline fight, the scene turned chaotic as ‘Sweethands’ threw his drink flying towards ‘KingRy’, thereby sparking a brawl. But the security promptly went into action and brought things under their control. By July, news came that Jordan Plant had initiated legal action against Garcia for his online comments.
