Jermall Charlo vs Demetris Andrade is a duel which has been anticipated by fans for years. However, either because the fighters simply weren’t in each other’s weight class or Charlo’s two-year long inactivity, both boxers appeared to be no closer to facing one another. Both boxers have gone back and forth, with the fight seeming to be the next thing. But much like Errol Spence Jr. Vs Terence Crawford, the prospect of this fight has left fans feeling betrayed.

With fights like Gervonta DavisRyan Garcia and the confirmation of the Crawford-Spence Jr., it seems things are taking a turn for the better. With the seeming revitalization of the sport, it appears that Charlo and Andrade also want a piece of the cake. Recently, Andrade shared his interest in the fight once again and now Charlo has come out with a ‘special message’ for him as well.

Jermall Charlo has been out of fighting for around 2 years now, with his last opponent being Mexican boxer Juan Macias Montiel. Moreover, Charlo even postponed his title fight with Maciej Sulecki citing back injury as the cause. Furthermore, he announced a couple of months ago that he will be returning to the ring in June, for which he suffered a lot of backlash from fans.

However, it seems fans may finally get to witness the ‘Hit Man‘ in action once again, moreover possibly against Andrade. He recently shared a clip from the time of Charlo Doubleheader event which took place in September 2020. In the clip, Charlo appeared to be doing his routine in the heavy bag. He tagged Andrade and wrote, “Hit me back bruh” accompanied by the emotes of phone and landline. This has once again reignited the possibility of the fight. However, if the fight indeed takes place then it will be hard on Charlo who has been so inactive for a while now.

Earlier this year Andrade made his debut under Showtime and defeated Demond Nicholson as he appeared as an undercard for the Gervonta Davis-Hector Luis Garcia event. ‘Boo Boo’ moved up in weight after giving up on the bout, and his transition appeared to be seamless as he achieved a unanimous decision victory over Nicholson. Prior to the fight, he expressed his skepticism towards the chances of Charlo- Andrade taking place. At the time, he believes that he is not Charlo’s first priority.

With his recent story, it appears that Andrade also desires the matchup. Even though he has been off the ring for so long, Charlo claims that he wouldn’t go for a warm-up bout. He said, “I’ll go straight into it”. For now, fans will have to wait as the negotiations are ongoing, if it goes smoothly, we will have another great bout to anticipate for this year.
