The fight between two undisputed beasts is just around the corner. The tension is palpable, and the wait is unbearable. Both fighters have made a name for themselves in their respective weight classes. In one corner, it’s Canelo Alvarez with his undisputed Super Middleweight championship titles. On the other, Jermell Charlo with his undisputed Junior Middleweight championship titles. What’s more, it’s Canelo’s third title defense fight while Charlo climbs to 168 lbs weight division. But is he ready to take on Canelo’s precision punching and game IQ on September 30 in Las Vegas?
There is no doubt that Charlo is a dangerous opponent for Canelo. Since ‘Iron Man’ became the first ever undisputed 154-pound champion after defeating Brian Castano. But in his own words, Jermell described his nervousness during an interview with Fight Hype. Adding to this pressure, Jermell had a falling out with his twin brother, Jermall Charlo. According to reports, the falling-out began after Jermall’s slap fiasco with Caleb Plant. Following this, Jermell and Jermall’s wives got into a physical altercation, causing cracks between them. Will this added pressure affect Jermell’s performance? Or is it due to an entirely different reason?

While appearing in an interview, Jermell described the reason behind his nervousness before facing off against Canelo Alvarez. Jermell said, “I’d be nervous every fight, you know. I’ve been nervous since I was younger, no lie.” ‘Iron Man’ then went on to describe why he was nervous about the fight. He said, “This is my life I’m putting on the line…I want to get back and get out of there safe.” But that wasn’t the end of things.
Jermell also described that anything can happen during the fight, regardless of how great a fighter someone is. He said, “You never know what to expect out of this work or what’s gonna happen. Some of the greatest fighters have lost. Some of the greatest fighters have won.” Jermell then claimed he is on top and he is among the Hall of Famers. Moreover, with the fight approaching quickly, who do experts think will win?
Kelly Pavlik’s take on the Canelo vs. Jermell fight
Even though the two fighters share the same age, are their skill levels the same? Kelly Pavlik doesn’t seem to think so! Pavlik is a former professional boxer who was eminent during his prime in the mid-2000s. He held the unified WBC, WBO, Ring magazine, and lineal Middleweight title after he took down Jermain Taylor in 2007. Subsequently, he defended his title three times but lost it to Sergio Martinez in 2010.

With his experience in the same weight division, Pavlik possesses the expertise to predict the outcome of the fight. In a report from DAZN, Pavlik predicted Canelo would win the bout via decision, all the while maintaining that Canelo is a better fighter. However, it’s important to note that upsets in boxing are not a new concept. And given Charlo’s determination, he has a good chance of winning.
