Even though he is at the top of his game, pound-for-pound veteran boxer Canelo Alvarez is having trouble coming up with an opponent for his next fight. Alvarez who recently came off with an easy victory against British boxer John Ryder previously chose to ignore all other callouts and keep his focus on Dmitry Bivol. Even though he was getting called out by the likes of David Benavidez and Jermall Charlo, Alvarez had his eyes set on Bivol.
However, Bivol has no intention to face Alvarez at 174lbs and WBC will not sanction the fight due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis. With that in mind, reportedly, Alvarez has now shifted his focus to Jermall Charlo and Badou Jack. Moreover, Jack has confirmed the rumors, however, he has put down Alvarez’s fight.

Swedish boxer Badou Jack has made it clear that he will not be Alvarez’s next opponent. He recently took to Twitter to put down the Mexican Icon’s offer. Jack doesn’t want to face Alvarez at 180 lbs. which is 20 lbs. below the cruiserweight limit of 200 lbs. He wrote, “I won’t be fighting Canelo next.” He appears to have found the condition of fighting at 180 lbs. for the title hilarious.
Furthermore, he also shared that Alvarez wants there to be a rehydration clause. Although he did not share the details of the rehydration clause, it seems to him the physical disadvantages that would cause are nowhere near the monetary gain he would receive.
I won’t be fighting Canelo next. They said the weight difference is too much, they wanted to drain the old man and fight me 20lbs UNDER the cruiser weight limit for the title 😂 Plus a rehydration clause.

Moreover, he took a shot at Alvarez and told him to “give the fans what they want to see and fight David Benavidez”. With this, fans will be waiting for Alvarez’s next move, will he face Benavidez after all?
David Benavidez asks Alvarez: Why are you afraid of me?
David Benavidez recently took to Instagram to call Alvarez out once again. After repeated attempts to make the fight happen, it seems that Benavidez is getting fed up. Alvarez’s overlooking him as an opponent has made him ask Canelo if he is “Afraid” of him. This frustration probably came after he received the news that Alvarez was focusing on Badou Jack and Jermall Charlo who has been inactive for a year.

“Why are you afraid of me?”, questioned Benavidez on his Instagram Story. Although this received a lot of hate from Canelo’s fans as they slammed the “Mexican Monster”. It can be said that in the past Canelo looking past a young boxer made sense, as he had much bigger prospects to face like Gennady Golovkin and a rematch against Bivol. However, Canelo constantly ignoring Benavidez even after he came with a lucrative offer definitely raised some eyebrows.
