Claressa Shields is currently on the hunt for her new opponent yet again after a great run-through on June 3rd against Maricela Cornejo. She won the fight by unanimous decision, and before she could take a breath to celebrate her victory, the Undisputed Middleweight Champion was already clashing with other boxers for her next fight. Shields has shown interest in going against Savannah Marshall again, and the opponent also feels the same about their rematch. Marshall believes that the fights surrounding a personal grudge are more interesting to see, and the duo is perfect for that.

But Shields is also looking in the direction of facing Shadasia Green in her next bout. So Shields does want to face Marshall again, especially to put an end to the rivalry. In the meantime, it seems like a new chapter is also opening for her with Shadasia Green’s concern. Well, in the recent past couple of days, ‘T-Rex’ has been going back and forth with Green. So is this a build-up to an interesting bout that may happen in the coming future?

The chaos unraveled as Claressa Shields talked about the prospect of fighting Green in her recent interview with The Weigh In Boxing. So, in the interview, she was asked if she’d actually ever take up the fight against ‘The Sweet Terminator’. So she said, “I wanna be clear about something. Me and Shadasia Green could have been fought. Me and Shadasia Green was both signed to Mark Taffit.” Then Shields revealed that she was offered to face Hannah Gabriel at 175, and once she wins that bout, she will get to face her.

All of these claims have been waved off by Green, as she stated that she was neither scheduled to fight Gabriel nor offered the Shields bout, nor was she ever signed to Mark Taffit. She called everything a lie on Shields’s part. This created a lot of confusion, but Shields remained adamant about her statements on Twitter and stated that what she said was entirely true.

After that, a Twitter User, QueensoftheRing, posted about a sparring session between Shields and Green. Well, Shields came across the tweet and claimed that she won the sparring session even though Green was 190 at the time. She also pointed out that let’s not include the result of the sparring during the trash-talking. As she wrote, “I don’t praise myself on sparring!

But a few years ago, Green said entirely something else when she spoke about their sparring together.

Shadasia Green opened up about the sparring session years ago

In an interview with Thaboxingvoice back in 2019, Shadasia Green talked about how she got the opportunity to engage in a little sparring session with Claressa Shields. So at first, she gave Shields credit for being one of the best female boxers of all time. However also revealed how she didn’t feel threatened by her when she faced her.

And for that, she gave the reason that she doesn’t spar against women. She said, “I’ve sparred with at least seven men World Champions at 154, 147. So I’ve sparred with the hardest men, the hardest punchers in men’s boxing. I’ve been doing that, I don’t spar women.” Then she stated that she respects Claressa Shields but the boxer didn’t stand a chance against her.
