35-year-old Shadasia Green has unlocked a new achievement, a highly prestigious one at that. The new WBO women’s super-middleweight champion is coming off a split-decision win against Canada’s Melinda Watpool on November 15th at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on the undercard of the much-discussed Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight.
Fighting in front of the biggest crowd of her career, ‘The Sweet Terminator’ managed to convince Judge Lisa Giampa (97-93) and Jesse Reyes (96-94) to score in her favor. However, Judge Jeremy Hayes credited Watpool with a 96-94 victory. Regardless, since the win, Green reached her hometown to the biggest honor of her career thus far.
The 35-year-old was bestowed with the key to Paterson, New Jersey, after her victory. Honoring Green with the key, the Mayor of Paterson, Andre Sayegh, said, “I just want to remind everyone that the highest honor America bestows upon any individual is presenting the key to the city, so today here in City Hall, I’m proud to present the key to the city to Shadasia Green.”

Meanwhile, Green’s promoter Most Valuable Promotions shared a post on Instagram celebrating Green’s new achievement. “MVP would like to congratulate our very own Shadasia Green for receiving the Key to the City of Paterson, NJ by Mayor Andre Sayegh,” MVP wrote. “1 WEEK ago Shadasia defeated Melinda Watpool and won the WBO World Super Middleweight Championship by MAJORITY Decision!”
Green is now 15-1-0 with 11 KO wins, and with her latest victory, the Paterson native is looking for bigger and better challenges.
Shadasia Green wants Savannah Marshall, Claressa Shields, or Crews Dezurn rematch
Fresh off her WBO middleweight title win, Green has her sights set on Savannah Marshall, Claressa Shields, or even a rematch with Franchon Crews Dezurn, who handed Green her only career defeat. Marshall, who previously held Green’s current title, and left it for a career in MMA, is on top of Green’s list.

Green is eager to face Marshall in her UK backyard, telling Boxing News, “I know it would be her home [territory], but I’ll make some of her fans my fans.” Meanwhile, speaking about Claressa Shields, who is the only one who has defeated Marshall, Green claimed, “I’m sure it would have to make sense for her.”
“You know, of course, she’s in that time frame in the sport where she’s been around and it has to make sense for her financially. I think she would entertain it. MVP [Promotions] is really doing big things for women’s boxing,” Green added. She hasn’t forgotten about the only loss in her resume against Crews Dezurn via unanimous decision in December last year.

“I didn’t use my jab with Franchon,” she said. “I wouldn’t give away the gameplan [for a rematch], but I would be much more active and do what I do best. I guarantee I would come out victorious.”
That said, Shadasia Green’s career seems to have started catching steam after her latest win on the Paul-Tyson card. However, whether she can land the fights she is hoping for is yet to be seen. Who do you think she should fight next?
