Let’s admit it for once. Your average, middle-of-the-road fan enters the arena to cheer for his favorite boxer. Of course, there is nothing sweeter than a win. But a knockout win acts as the icing on the cake. When two fighters match each other evenly in terms of physicality and skills, in all likelihood, it drags the bout to the last round. Finally, it lands at the desk of the judges for a decision. The one who stood better in terms of strikes landed, aggression, ring control, and effective defense would be declared the winner, provided all or most of the judges agreed.

However, a perfectly legal method has been effective in settling the question since time immemorial. Knockout is the fastest and sure-shot way to end a fight. On a given day, a fan, despite having perennial favorites, wouldn’t miss an opportunity to see brutal knockout craftsmen like Mike Tyson and George Foreman in the past or Deontay Wilder and Gervonta Davis in the current era. Such is the magnetism a knockout holds over each boxing fan and follower. Of course, sheer technical brilliance, ring IQ, and distance-positional movement still have value and respect. But the knockout gets a viewer to jump on his seat.

Questions on who is the greatest knockout artist of all time and the top ten boxers with the highest knockout-to-win percentage bounce from one forum to another. The hotly contested debate has been going on since cataloging boxing stats and records became a mandatory practice.

Dan Canobbio, a host with Jomboy Media which runs a YouTube-based podcast called Inside Boxing Live, tweeted a message. It had the pics of nine currently active boxers with their knock-out-win rate, in descending order. The caption on the post read, “The 9 highest knockout percentages in boxing today.”

Even since it came out, the tweet has received more than 100k views and more than a hundred retweets. In addition, some fans and followers joined in to voice their opinions and standpoint on what is obviously a touchy issue.

Some interesting takeaways on the list

@JibOzilBusquets contended that any boxer who has fought less than thirty professional fights shouldn’t be considered on the list. If this criterion is considered, Deontay Wilder will remain at the top.

@qasimasad10352 mentioned that with knock-out-to-win rates of 100%, 93%, and 88%, respectively, he understands why Artur Betrbiev, Joe Joyce, and Naoya Inoue find a mention on the list. But for the remaining, he seems to wonder about the kind of opponents they faced. Especially the likes of Deontay Wilder, Gervonta Davis, and David Benavidez barely came across noteworthy boxers in their careers.

@BernieBahrmasel would like Ukrainian Super Welterweight Serhii Bohachuk’s name to be included. All his twenty-two wins out of twenty-three professional bouts came through knockouts lending a knock-out-to-win rate of 95.65%.

@deeconnectdots reminded everyone that Gervonta Davis’s name appeared in all the lists published previously besides the latest one. So how is it possible for anyone to doubt his skills?

@castergunx referred to all the luminaries in the list as “monsters.”
