Is Jake Paul out of his depth taking on Eddie Hearn, or does he have a point?

Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul will settle it out in court. The two were involved in a verbal tussle, which eventually didn’t sit well with the British promoter, and he decided to slap his American counterpart with a defamation lawsuit. The latest update is coming, and it spells trouble for Paul.

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger turned to his X handle and disclosed that a New York judge had dismissed Paul’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit pressed by Hearn and Matchroom Boxing. In addition, he revealed that October 16 had been finalized as the date for the parties to move forward with the suit. But how did ‘The Problem Child’ find himself in such a mess?

Why is Eddie Hearn suing Jake Paul?

The incident dates back to September 2022, when Hearn had enough of Paul’s claims. The 45-year-old had grown frustrated over Paul’s claims of bribing judge Glen Feldman and securing favorable results for his fighters, namely Katie Taylor and Anthony Joshua. Notably, Taylor had edged out Amanda Serrano with a split decision win where Feldman scored the fight in Taylor’s favor, as the Irish fighter bagged the win against Serrano with a split decision in April 2022.

A similar incident happened in August 2022, where Feldman put ‘AJ’ ahead on the scorecard instead of Oleksandr Usyk for the unified heavyweight straps. This led Paul to make a harsh observation, as he declared, “You’d think they would try to get a different judge to try and hide the corruption they are bringing to this sport. But it’s just so blatantly obvious.”

The Matchroom Boxing lynchpin categorically denied these claims, as he called them, “false and baseless.” He then resorted to legal action as he filed the lawsuit. He will now wait and see how it unfolds. But what’s next for the two?

Interestingly, both Hearn and Paul are working together on the same Netflix’s November 15 card. The fans will see the much-awaited rematch between Serrano, promoted by Paul, and Taylor, promoted by Hearn. So, it remains to be seen how working together improves or worsens the situation. But the fans would want to see out the action-filled night instead of a lawsuit dictating what can transpire in the boxing ring.

Paul, at 10-1, would like to keep his focus on his fight with Mike Tyson instead of the courtroom drama. But it seems he might have to deal with a lawsuit first. What do you make of this lawsuit between Jake Paul and Eddie Hearn? Let us know in the comments below.
