What makes the PBC-Amazon Prime card so intriguing is that, including the headliner, three fights have world titles at stake. Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. will face off for the WBA lightweight. The remaining two feature light welterweight champions Jose Valenzuela and Alberto Puello defending their titles from Gary Antuanne Russell and Sandor Martin, respectively. It’s not often one comes across two divisional championship fights taking place concurrently at the same event.
Understandably most fans hone in their sights on the headliner and maybe the Valenzuela-Antuanne Russell square-ups. But ignore the Puello-Martin fight at your own peril. Offering that much-needed edge of the seat experience, it’s another clash of equals. Puello will try his best to retain his championship. But Martin, who despite his best efforts hasn’t been able to take his career to a higher level, will make a wholehearted attempt to disrupt. So let’s explore how these two fighters stack up against each other ahead of their much-anticipated duel.

Predicting Alberto Puello vs. Sandor Martin: Who has better stats and record?
Considering the fact that he commenced his professional journey in 2011, Barcelona-born Martin, 31 (August 22, 1993), definitely has an edge when it boils down to sheer experience. In comparison, the 30-year-old Dominican (July 22, 1994) made his debut on March 7, 2015. With 23 professional wins in his kitty, he remains unbeaten.

Evidently, Puello is not a firm believer in early stoppage. Only 44% of his opponents were stopped early in the fights. That’s a trait even his opponent shares. With a 36% knockout-to-win rate, Sandor Martin maintains a record of 45 professional fights, out of which he suffered losses in three.
Puello and Martin’s height, weight, reach comparison, and more
In physical terms, however, Alberto Puello appears to enjoy some advantage. With a height of 5 feet and nine inches, or 175 centimeters, he stands taller than Martin, who is 5 feet and seven inches, or 171 centimeters. Likewise, against Puello’s 71 inches, or 180 centimeters, Martin boasts a 69 inches, or 175 centimeters, reach.
Last year, when he fought Gary Antuanne Russell on June 15, Alberto Puello registered a weight of 139.8 pounds. Sandor Martin’s last fight took place fourteen months ago. Ahead of the face-off with Mohamed El Marcouchi, he weighed about 140.8 pounds.
Prediction
Like the Jose Valenzuela-Antuanne Russell faceoff, the Alberto Puello-Sandor Martin faceoff appears to be a tightly contested duel. Though subject to change, currently -120 odds favor Puello to score a win against Martin, a +100 underdog.

Martin, at 31, brings experience, but his ring activity raises concerns. His last fight took place on December 16, 2023, meaning he has been inactive for over a year—an absence that often leads to ring rust. Against the 30-year-old Puello, who has remained active in high-stakes fights, this could pose a serious problem.
There are a few other issues. Having eight rounds each, Martin’s last two bouts ended in KOs. But they were against unheralded fighters. His last twelve-round fight took place in 2021. Puello, on the other hand, has become a past master in championship fights. Not only that, he has been testing his skills against high-caliber fighters like Gary Antuanne Russell. Sandor has a major hurdle to overcome.
