If everything falls in place, Filipino senator Manny Pacquiao can lace up the boxing gloves to make his return against Errol Spence Jr. The welterweight elites have been touted for a possible collision, and despite having no official confirmation, the potential matchup has already sent the combat world into a frenzy.

The 42-year-old Pacquiao had his last fights against Adrien Broner and Keith Thurman in 2019. He appeared prominent by claiming consecutive wins. However, veteran trainer Joel Diaz doesn’t seem to envision the same in a fight against ‘The Truth’.

Diaz has favored Errol Spence Jr. in a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao. Although he has expressed his respect for ‘Pac-Man’, the trainer still pointed out the fact that ‘The Truth’ will be at an advantage.

Speaking with FightHype.com, Joel Diaz said, “That’s a fight, that you know Errol [Specne Jr.] should win because he is the young fighter. He is a bigger fighter, and he is a stronger fighter. Manny Pacquiao is fast, but I mean, he is amongst the best and one of the greatest fighters. But I just think age is a big factor.”

He added, “I mean he [Manny Pacquiao] is already an older fighter and competing against a young, full strong fighter like Errol Spence. I mean, I think Spence will beat him.”

If the fight takes place, ‘The Truth’ will put his undefeated record and world title on the line. A win against Pacquiao will enrich Spence Jr’s legacy. Moreover, it would be a perfect replacement for Terence Crawford’s absence.

The welterweight division is yet to see a blockbuster unification between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford. So, Manny Pacquiao seems the rightful person to fill the void.
