Who are the greatest boxers of all time? A question that has sparked endless debates and arguments among fans, analysts, and even the fighters themselves. However, recently, a Facebook page named The Indiana Boxing Hall of Fame has made predictions about it. They have thrown their hat into the ring with a list. However, this list has left the boxing community more divided than ever. What’s the fuss about?
Well, let’s say not everyone agrees with the rankings, especially when legends like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson are involved. The list features iconic names like Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis, but the order and some inclusions have fans scratching their heads. Furthermore, fans are trying to make sense of the list. “Simply the best,” declares the Indiana Boxing Hall of Fame, but the boxing aficionados beg to differ. However, one thing is clear: the index hasn’t gone well with them.
Why are fans triggered by the list of boxing paragons that includes Muhammad Ali?

They have rated boxers in the following order. At first, we have Sugar Ray Robinson. Then, we have Muhammad Ali, followed by Henry Armstrong. Grabbing the fourth position is Joe Louis and the fifth is Sugar Ray Leonard. Following that, at six, we have Robert Duran, and the seventh is Harry Greb. The last three positions are occupied by Jimmy Wilde, Willie Pep, and Archie Moore, respectively. Contrarily, fans have raised an alternative argument.
One fan agrees with the top four, stating, “All of my top 4 and in that order. Number 5 Harry Grebb 6) Willie Pep 7) Roberto Duran 8)) Sam Langford 9) Mickey Walker 10 ) Bob Fitzimmons” but diverges after that, suggesting names like Harry Greb and Willie Pep.
Simultaneously, another fan praised the list but believes Roberto Duran should rank higher. He writes, “That’s a real good list of some great champions personally I would’ve put Duran a little bit higher underneath Robinson and Ali in the number three spot. At the same time I’ve always admired Henry Armstrong and if any light weight could’ve ever beat hands of stone it would’ve been him.”
However, the list isn’t without its critics. One commenter argued, “Greatest Boxers ? I will give you Sugar Ray Robinson yes and I can go with Muhammad Ali. Henry Armstrong ok but seems like he gets often overlooked when everyone talks pound for pound. After that though the list is laughable. How many Hall of fame fighters did Duran beat ? Ray Leonard had what 13 total title fights ? Floyd Mayweather beat more World Champions and when it’s all said and done probably more Hall of Fame fighters then most of these fighters. Some haven’t been inducted yet because it there still active. Where’s Marvin Hagler ? Tommy Hearns ? They both beat Duran. Michael Spinks first Light Heavyweight Champion to win the Heavyweight Championship.”
Adding to the complexity, another fan believes the list is fair but admits limited expertise. He wrote, “Sounds fair Marchiono defeated Archie Moore but what do I know.”

Then, a different perspective comes from a fan. The comment said, “Great list Leonard shouldn’t be in top ten top 15.”
The Indiana Boxing Hall of Fame’s list has stirred the pot, igniting fiery debates among fans and experts alike. While some find the list spot-on, others question its credibility. Critics argue for the inclusion of modern greats and question the rankings of legends like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson. The list has divided the boxing community, leaving us with more questions than answers.
