Boxer-turned-commentator Timothy Bradley is known for his brilliant boxing insights. Before Gervonta Davis’ fight with Frank Martin, Bradley had predicted that Martin would not be able to handle ‘Tank’ in the latter rounds due to his lack of experience. Guess what? Martin came off aggressive in the initial rounds but lost the bout as Davis landed a vicious left hook that knocked out Frank Martin in the eighth round.
There have been talks of a potential Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Gervonta Davis clash. In Bradley’s opinion, it is a fact that ‘Loma’ has been watching ‘Tank’ for a long time, as he’s been wanting to fight him for years. The Ukrainian has a detriment as he is older, and he could be battle-worn as well. He further explained that Lomachenko is a smart man, and it is not a foregone conclusion that Davis would just catch him and knock him out. It is indeed going to be challenging for the Baltimore native, according to Bradley.

The former welterweight champion explained that it is a 50-50 situation. While mapping out Davis’ way to defeat Loma, Bradley stated, “I think Tank can win this fight and knock him out and there’s certain ways he can do it. I think he gotta get Loma on his backfoot man. He gotta keep him resetting you know. He gets him on his backfoot when he’s out of position, you know.”
Bradley also thinks Gervonta Davis needs to keep resetting while targeting Loma’s body if he wishes to find an opening in his high guard stance. “He attack that body, Loma has that high guard too. He uses it as well. Short arms, a lot of body exposure for Tank to be able to take advantage of and hit him hard and hurt him,” advised Bradley.
The 40-year-old believes that ‘Tank’ is going to catch ‘Loma’ a bit off guard and hurt him badly to cement a victory. Bradley also believes that since Lomachenko, at 36, is much more experienced with a higher number of amateur fights, Davis would “need to catch him and hurt him in order to cement his victory.”
That is Davis’ strategy, which he often uses to obtain a one-punch victory. Lomachenko’s promoter Bob Arum has also shed some light on the ongoing talks between Top Rank and PBC to make Davis vs. Loma happen at the end of this year. Also, both fighters have given a nod to fight each other. There’s another analyst though, who has predicted the outcome of this very clash.

Stephen A. Smith shares his prediction
Vasyl Lomachenko is known for his inside-the-ring tactics and is one of the most technically skilled fighters of this era. Former NBA analyst for ESPN Stephen A. Smith was discussing how Davis has grown to become the biggest attraction in boxing. He said, “My attitude is nobody has a shot against Gervonta Davis if you can’t punch with power.”
The 56-year-old went on to explain, “That is not to say that Lomachenko can’t punch with power [because] we saw what he did to Kambosos, beat the s**t out of him. But, I’m saying to you, against Gervonta Davis, I don’t know.”
