After Ryan Garcia suffered a devastating first pro loss in his career to Gervonta Davis, Showtime analyst Brendan Schaub spoke about the possibility of Garcia stepping into the ring with a “previous injury“. Following Schaub’s assertions, former Olympian and Ryan Garcia’s sparring partner Tsendbaatar Erdenebat took to social media and publicly claimed to have injured Garcia during sparring.
An almost invisible and thundering body shot from ‘Tank’ led Garcia to step back and get down on one of his knees. While the boxing world wondered about the power that Davis attached to the body shot, Erdenebat claimed he had already injured Garcia with a body shot in sparring before the bout on the 22nd of April. Hence, referring to the unfortunate moment, Erdenbat also issued Ryan Garcia an apology in public.

As soon as Ryan Garcia embraced his first pro defeat on the 22nd of April, Brendan Schaub doubted whether or not ‘KingRy’ fought with an injury. Although he claimed he did not intend to rob Davis of any deserving credits, he emphasized Garcia fighting with a “previous injury“ against ‘Tank’ Davis. Following the statement by Schaub, now Garcia’s sparring partner has added weight to the speculation claiming that he had already injured Garcia with a body shot ahead of the fight.

The source named EverythingBoxing shared the brief clip. In the clip, Garcia’s sparring partner, looking at the camera and taking multiple pauses said, “Hey King Ryan, in the sparring, I injured you with a body shot. Now you lost to ‘Tank’, I am sorry. Are you ok?” Anyway, Garcia himself has not yet made comments on any injuries prior to the bout with Davis. In his opinion, he feels privileged to have shared the ring with ‘Tank’ Davis.
