Can boxing still surprise us? Frank Stallone thinks so. A lover of the sport, he’s seen it from all angles. Close to the action, he mentored on NBC’s ‘The Contender.’ His insights? Priceless. Recently, Stallone stirred the pot. He labeled the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight a “joke.”

His critique went viral. Why? Because when Stallone speaks, the boxing world listens. He’s not just Sylvester Stallone’s brother. Frank’s a boxing aficionado with deep roots in the sport. Frank Stallone tries on his brand-new gift

Frank Stallone took to Instagram, sharing a video that has caught the attention of boxing enthusiasts and casual viewers alike. In this clip, he’s seen donning a pair of fresh boxing gloves, a gift from his friend, former boxer and broadcaster, Frank Gilfeather. “I wanna thank my Scottish friend, Frank Gilfeather for these beautiful gloves, no war. They’re brand new and I haven’t broken it in yet, so I’m gonna try them out for a little bit,” he begins, his voice brimming with enthusiasm for the task ahead.

Swiftly, he transitions into action, demonstrating his prowess with a series of precise jabs and hooks against a heavy bag. Despite the intensity, Stallone takes a moment to share a piece of wisdom. “I don’t even have wraps on and these bags are too heavy anyway, so that’s why I’m not killing my hands. You don’t have to hit the bag that hard,” admitted the younger Stallone brother.

Following this brief interlude, he resumes his training, the sounds of his gloves against the bag punctuating the air. This video not only showcases Stallone’s skill but also underscores that he can back the talk.

But why does he consider Jake vs. Mike a joke?

Is the bout merely a sparring session?

Frank Stallone’s critique of the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight cuts deep into the heart of boxing’s integrity. He pulls no punches: “Great feedback from a week ago when I talked about the Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight. Again let me reiterate it’s either a sanctioned fight or it’s not a sanctioned fight. If you’re wearing 16-ounce gloves and there are two-minute rounds, that’s not a fight,” he asserts, challenging the very nature of the event.

He labels the match a “sparring session, it’s a joke,” advocating for the authenticity of “10-ounce gloves and all the things that go, no headgear, three-minute rounds.” On Paul’s credentials, Stallone is blunt, calling him “basically a ranked amateur,” a nod to Paul’s defeat against Tommy Fury.

What do we seek from the sport of boxing—entertainment or earnest competition? Frank Stallone’s stance is clear, but where does the community at large stand?
