Sky Sports will have to move on from one of the precious assets in their team. Adam Smith has announced his departure from the company over social media. Smith became a part of Sky Sports in its infancy back in August 1994. His journey of being a commentator however started at a tender age of 10, when he used to turn down the volume of the radio station, and commentate on the game using a Dictaphone. His love for sports persisted even when he grew up.

As Sky Sports became bigger, Adam Smith started piercing his way to the top of the company as well. He then took on the role of the Head of Boxing at the company. The last year was tough on Smith as he braved them one day at a time.

Adam Smith shares a positive news with his followers

In the sport of boxing, Smith has one of the most recognizable voices. He’s contributed his narration to a lot of big fights like Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, Anthony Joshua vs. Vladimir Klitschko, and Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall. After that, he took a break of one year, to fight his battle with cancer. The great news is that Smith overcame the harsh battle and will now be moving forward to broader endeavors.

He recently posted on Instagram where he shared some pictures of his incredible work at Sky Sports, and added a beautiful caption. Smith wrote, “Hope everyone is well….new, exciting beginnings and challenges for me after a wonderful, incredible 3 decade journey at the amazing place that is Sky Sports.” Then he also shared some details about his journey with the dreaded disease. He stated, “A brutal year away recovering from serious ill- health has given me the opportunity to think of my wider passions in sport – taking a deeper interest in the development of sports men and women and presenting/commentating on a broader canvas.

He announced that he’s “cancer-free” and it’d be great to see him move forward in his career. A lot of his peers wished him well for the future.

The boxing world came together to wish Smith well

A lot of big names in boxing had only nice things to say about Adam Smith.

The Irish boxer, Gary O’Sullivan, stated that he’s happy to see that Adam Smith is doing great. He wrote, “I’m delighted to hear you’re doing well. Adam. All the best. I hope we cross paths again before too long.

Former trainer of Tyson Fury, Ben Davison, also made a comment about the fantastic news. He wrote, “Great news!

Sports personality Stephen A. Smith also replied to the post with a heart emoji, to show his support in Smith’s decision.

Former professional boxer, Derry Mathews, mentioned that if there were more men like Smith present in the sport, it’d have been in a better condition. He wrote, “What a man! I wish there were more men like you in the sport.
