Gervonta Davis probably never had this much drama with any of his past opponents like he does with Floyd Mayweather. Think about it! The WBA lightweight champion started rumors that the five-division champion was being held in Dubai by the authorities because of unpaid dues. Unpaid dues! Floyd is literally the definition of wealth. Regardless, now the former WBC lightweight champion, Adrien Broner has made his stance clear about the situation.
The feud between Davis and Mayweather started with a simple video, where the richest boxer in history took a subtle dig at Davis. Davis believed it was when Mayweather said boxers today spend their money instead of investing it. Not to mention, Mayweather also shared clips of Shakur Stevenson asking Davis to accept a fight with him, escalating the feud further. So, when a reporter from Fight Hype caught up with Broner today, ‘The Problem’ had this to say about the dispute.
Whose side is Adrien Broner on? Is it Gervonta Davis?

‘The Problem’ Broner, once among the elites of boxing, has been shuffling to the sidelines for a while now, but he doesn’t intend to stay there. So, he has elicited help from Calvin Ford, Davis’ coach, as he prepares for a bout against Blair Cobbs on June 7 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. As Broner appeared in Ford’s gym in Baltimore for the media day workout for the fight, the reporter probed him about the Mayweather-Davis tussle.
In response, the 34-year-old said, “Man, I let two grown men handle their business.” However, he could not help but shine a light on whose side he was taking amid the dispute. The former champion, who is a close friend of Davis, added, “But they know who side I’m on, if we got to go there though.” If Broner training with Davis’ coach wasn’t enough of a hint to translate Broner’s alliance, he, of course, is siding with Gervonta Davis on this one.
Interestingly, during his prime, Broner was often compared to ‘Money’ Mayweather because of the success and attention he managed to garner in a short amount of time. Not to mention, his showboating and polarizing personality created an immense interest in his fights among fans. However, after his fall from grace, no one really seems interested in the former champion.
On the other hand, Davis is a rising star and is considered the next big thing in the community. Meanwhile, Floyd Mayweather seems to have completely debunked Davis’ claim that he is stuck in the oil-rich country! How?

Since Davis made the allegations against Mayweather, the five-division champion was spotted in Las Vegas for the Clippers vs. Mavericks game, after which he even gave away $30 K to homeless people. However, he was spotted again in LA on 27 May for the AEW Double or Nothing event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

After Swerve Strickland successfully defended his AEW World Championship title against Christian Cage, Strickland approached the crowd to celebrate his win. That’s when Floyd Mayweather was caught on camera celebrating the fellow world champion’s win, putting to rest all the rumors started by Davis about him being stuck in Dubai once and for all.
The ongoing feud between Floyd Mayweather and his former protégé, Gervonta Davis, shows no indication of simmering down anytime soon. Yet, the entire situation has proved entertaining for boxing fans everywhere, with twists and turns rarely seen before. So much so that even a fight between Davis and Mayweather seems feasible. What do you think? Would you like to watch that fight?
