Los Angeles Police recently arrested Devin Haney after they discovered a concealed weapon in the car the undisputed Lightweight champion was travelling in. As per the reports, the person who drove the vehicle informed the police about the semi-automatic gun. According to TMZ, none claimed ownership of the weapon and the police arrested Haney since the car was registered to him. Following the arrest, the champion was later released on $35,000 bail.

The former WBA Welterweight titleholder Adrien Broner made a statement about the incident. In the past, Adrien Broner wanted to square off against Devin Haney. In fact, he even asked Eddie Hearn to put up the money for the fight. Broner who called himself “one of the biggest boxers in the sport“, felt confident about defeating Haney. However, here is what he said about Haney’s recent arrest.

Although none claimed possession of that semi-automatic gun, Bill Haney called the other person Haney’s “armed licensed security. In his opinion, there has been a “misunderstanding” and things would certainly “work out” when “Devin goes to the court“. On the other hand, Adrien Broner, who claimed to have a personal relationship with the Haneys, felt that the other person should have taken charge of that concealed weapon the cops found. As a result, he took to Instagram and in one of his stories, wrote, “That’s p**sy, whoever was with Devin should have took that charge“.

According to the latest updates, Devin Haney now has a hearing on the 3rd of August in Los Angeles. Following his controversial victory over Vasyl Lomachenko, Haney would likely fight Shakur Stevenson or Teofimo Lopez next inside the boxing ring. Devin Haney is yet to make a statement after his arrest this week. Only his father-cum-trainer spoke to ESPN and emphasized the idea of a “misunderstanding“.
