Over the years, people have got to see a softer side of Mike Tyson, and not just the ferocious juggernaut who knocked out all of his opponents. One of those moments was in full display during an interview back in August at the Fanatics Fest in New York City when Tyson, before his face-off against Jake Paul, ran into 14-year-old interviewer Jazlyn Guerra

The interview might be a bit old, at this point, but something prompted Tyson to share this interview on his Instagram story earlier today. Why is that? Well, let’s find out together. During their conversation, Guerra brought up the time Mike Tyson appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, dressed in a bee costume, dancing awkwardly.

For the nitpickers among you, this happened all the way back in June 2022, when Tyson showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live in his bee costume dancing his heart out. Regardless, Guerra continued as she asked Tyson how Kimmel, the host of the show, convinced him to get dressed up in a bee costume.

In response, Tyson, the sage that he is, replied, “Hey, you don’t take yourself [seriously], you know? If I took myself too seriously, I wouldn’t be here with you. Life is about enjoying it before it’s over.” Motivated by Tyson’s approach to life, the 14-year-old couldn’t stop herself from asking for a few words of wisdom from Tyson.

“No matter whatever happened in life, you get obliviated, you get embarrassed, you get disgraced, the whole world laughs at you. Never give up,” Tyson said. Mike Tyson’s expert advice in life aside, did you know Kimmel might not even have had to try hard to convince Tyson to wear the bee costume? Here’s why.

The legendary heavyweight champion showed off his Halloween spirit with a clever costume, dressing up as a bee. Tyson took to his X account on October 31, 2023, to share a photo of himself flexing in the bee outfit, along with the witty caption: “Happy Halloween. bee the force that cannot bee stopped.”

Fans quickly noted the potential tribute to his boxing idol, Muhammad Ali. Ali famously coined the phrase, “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” one of the most iconic lines in sports history. Tyson’s costume seems to be a playful nod to this legendary quote, blending humor with a subtle homage to one of boxing’s greatest.

That said, the 14-year-old interviewer didn’t just manage to convince Tyson to share some valuable advice but also made him reveal what convinced him to wear the bee costume. Did you watch that episode of Jimmi Kimmel Live? Would you like to see more of Tyson in the costume?
