Youtube sensation Jake Paul is set to face the biggest challenge of his boxing career against former Love Island star Tommy Fury. The Ohio-based internet star is coming off a win over former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and is now on the quest to face higher level completion. Moreover, he would be looking to address the criticism thrown his way about the opponents he chooses with Fury being a great potential matchup against him.
The bout is set to take place on February 25th at the Diriyah arena in Saudi Arabia. However, it seems like the WBC is ready to up the stakes for this fight as they have come out and introduced an official title belt which will be awarded to the winner of this fight.

TalkSport reporter Michael Benson revealed that the WBC will award a brand new ‘Diriyah Championship to the winner of this fight and even gave us a glimpse into the design of the belt.

A few days ago the governing body also revealed that the winner of this fight will be awarded an official raking in the WBC. Moreover, this is not the first time that the body has tried to cater to Paul, even offering him a ranking if he won against Hasim Rahman Jr. before the fight was called off. Despite this, the fans were not happy at the privileged treatment that Paul and Fury were getting and were quick to slam this announcement.

Moreover, a user name Jamie Clark stated that the WBC which was once the pinnacle of boxing was now a laughing stock.

The fans were certainly not too keen on this new belt which does not hold a lot of value when it comes to prestige. However, this problem has long plagued boxing with former champion Floyd Mayweather Jr also claiming that there are too many champions in the sport. Despite this, it would be hard for ‘The Problem Child’ to reject the preferential treatment he is getting from the WBC and will look to rid the wave of his success in the sport till he losses.
