Undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez put all of his doubters to rest after his emphatic victory over Gennady Golovkin in their trilogy bout. The Mexican champion now has two wins over his fiercest rival, proving to the world he is the better boxer. Alvarez won the fight comfortably via unanimous decision scoring 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 on the three judge’s scorecard.

However, many feel that this scorecard did not accurately reflect what happened during the fight. The majority of the fight was dominated by Alvarez, who controlled the pace throughout the fight and pressured Golovkin. However, if we were to go by the judge’s scorecard, it would mean that Golovkin had to win just one more round to secure a draw.

Moreover, this was called out by fans and celebrities who were not shy to take shots at the judges. They shared their opinion on the scoring system and pointed out that the judges got the scorecard wrong.
Judges get called out for their scorecards
Two-time Olympic medalist sprinter Akeem Haynes called out the judges who scored the bout 115-113 for Alvarez, calling it a ‘joke’.
115-113 is a joke of a scorecard. #CaneloGGG3

One fan stated that the judging in boxing was flawed and that ‘GGG’ did not win more than 2-rounds in the fight.
The scorecards in all 3 fights were absolutely fucked. Adelaide Byrd can rest easy knowing that all 3 judges tonight made that scorecard look petty. They almost fucking scored that a draw when GGG maybe won 2 rounds at the most. Boxing judging is fucked #CaneloGGG3

Moreover, Emmy-winning journalist Stephen Sanchez stated that he had Alvarez comfortably ahead on his scorecard.

One fan called the judging in boxing ‘ridiculous’ and wanted to implement changes to solve this problem.
Boxing has to do something about the judges that scorecard was ridiculous #CaneloGGG3 #DAZN #boxing

Furthermore, one fan stated that the 115-113 scorecard by two judges was very unusual. He also revealed that he had the Mexican champ winning 117-111 on his scorecard.
115-113 is an absolutely outrageous scorecard for that, had it 117-111 for canelo, don't see how it could be scored any other way #CaneloGGG3

One fan even went as far as asking for the arrest of these judges, calming that they were corrupt.
It was a nothing fight but I had Canelo 9-3

Lastly, one fan stated that all of their three fights met with controversy due to inconsistency in the scoring format.
all 3 GGG vs Canelo fights have been crooked as shit.
this scorecard is a disgrace. https://t.co/nP2Lh3MnxF— Dostoevsky (@MountainJigga) September 18, 2022
Although it could be argued that Golovkin had his moments in the fight, however, he was never in control of the match. The scorecard certainly does not reflect this and on the surface, it looks like Alvarez scrapped past ‘GGG’, which was not the case.
Who were the judges appointed for Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin 3

The judges appointed for the fight were Dave Moretti, and Steve Weisfeld, who have already judged some of Alvarez’s previous fights. Moreover, David Sutherland, from Oklahoma, was the other judge assigned to judge their fight for the first time.
Therefore, this result shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as two of these judges were accused of not scoring the second bout fairly as well. However, it seems like they were very far away from the mark as they messed up the scorecard once again.
