Gervonta Davis secured the win against Ryan Garcia in T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, by landing a brutal liver punch in the 7th round. With this win, Davis’ undefeated record stays intact. He is yet to face a loss in his professional career, which is absolutely commendable. Moreover, in the post-fight interview, it was evident that Davis saw himself at the top of the world, especially after ‘Tank’ emerged victorious in one of the biggest boxing fights this year.
Davis grabbed the victory under 1 minute and 44 seconds of the seventh round, where Ryan Garcia gave a late reaction to the punch. At first, he tried to endure the pain but then he dropped down to his knees, and the fight was over. This moment made Davis go back to his corner and celebrate with everything he’s got.

In the post-fight interview, a Showtime reporter recalled that a few years ago, he had talked to Davis when he opened up about his interest in boxing. He told the production team how as a child, he used to watch the tapes of great boxers like Sugar Ray Leonard, Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez, and Floyd Mayweather. And then he made a statement, that he too would be the ‘face of boxing’ just like them. The reporter asked him at that moment whether he thinks that way now.

The reporter asked Davis to look at the screen, where they replayed his punches, and showed him the knockdown that he did in the second round. This was definitely different from when Garcia gave out Conor McGregor-type prediction against ‘Tank’. Davis looked at the replay and talked about how this was anticipated and that Davis’ coach had predicted this move way before the fight.
He said, “It’s just him not knowing his placement and I knew I was the smarter guy, my coach was always telling me in the camp, he’s gonna come up with his head up so just shoot overtop.”
