Top Rank Boxing is making a comeback to Corpus Christi with an interestingly stacked card. On it, along with the headliners, a lightweight battle is also being featured. Abdullah Mason and Ronal Ron are set to fight 8 rounds in an effort to determine who among them is the better future prospect for Bob Arum’s promotion. The upcoming Saturday fight will see the two up-and-coming fighters face off in an effort to elevate their boxing trajectory.

Mason, a Cleaveland, Ohio-based fighter, is fighting 2 months after his 2nd round knockout victory over Benjamin Gurment. His California-based opponent, Ronal Ron was last seen in action in January this year against Gregory Morales, a fight that he lost on points. While he hopes to redeem himself from that devastating loss, Mason fights to keep his winning streak going.

20-year-old Abdullah Mason, who fights from the lightweight division, turned pro in 2021 against Jaylan Phillips, defeating the latter via a second-round technical knockout. Since then, the southpaw has fought the likes of Manuel Guzman (2022), Alex de Oliveira (2023), and Cesar Villarraga (2023). The 5’9” tall fighter boasts a knockout ratio of 83.33%, stemming from his 10 KO wins in 12 fights. His reach is 188 cm, while he weighed 135.5 pounds in his last bout.

26-year-old, Ronal Ron, a Venezuelan by nationality, first fought in the year 2019 against Gregori Castellanos, winning the fight through a majority decision. Since then, he’s defeated names like Jampier Oses twice (2018), Richard Cerezo (2019), and Jeison Prado (2021). While his wins are illustrious, the 5’7” tall fighter has also seen 5 defeats in his career, bringing his record to 14-5. His 11 KO wins in 19 fights translate into a 78.57% KO ratio. With his reach measuring 177 cm, in his last fight, the super featherweight prospect weighed in at about 128.25 pounds.

As per media reports, Abdullah Mason has a net worth of about $400,00 as of this year. Most of these earnings root themselves in his boxing stints.

In the main card of the lightweight clash, Ohio-based fighter, Jared Anderson faces off against Belgium-native, Ryad Murphy. The fight will take its course after its co-headliner, gets the ball rolling, another heavyweight clash between Nigeria-based, Efe Ajagba and Italian fighter, Guido Vianello. These fights position themselves in the backdrop of the heavyweight class that is now picking up momentum.

The Top Rank card will be streamed on ESPN and ESPN+ from 10 PM Eastern Standard Time.
