It’s nearly ten months since the boxing community saw Abdul Wahid (formerly Gervonta Davis). Scores of fans eagerly await the arrival of their icon. Match-up talks have been aplenty; however, nothing concrete has come out so far. Now, a new buzz seems to be grabbing attention. With the lightweight champion revealing tidbits, it is sure to add gravity to the prevailing rumors.

After defeating Ryan Garcia, Abdul Wahid, then Gervonta Davis, found his name against Terence Crawford. While the discussions were enticing, they naturally washed up due to understandable differences in weight. Then there is the obvious choice of Devin Haney. Their fight is a sure-shot history-maker, but with the latter moving up a division, its fate hangs in the balance. So what’s next for ‘Tank’? Apparently, he even seems to have received feelers from ‘The Destroyer’s end. The Baltimorean’s next move? Share it through Instagram Story!

Early today, the WBA lightweight champion first countered Benn, who dished out a “hit list.” It had the names of boxers he would want to fight next. The American champion said, “No, funny, the way you looked last night. Give me 3 weeks & a weekend in Turks, and yo a*s is grass. You hear me!

Soon, he received a reply. “Oh, here he is the woman beating munchkin from Oz! Let’s do it next ??” Conor Benn asked. ‘Tank’ replied in the affirmative, asking where he preferred receiving his first career loss. “Sure, why not..where would you like ya a*s whooping at bruv?

It was enough for ‘The Destroyer’ to tag his promoter, Eddie Hearn. On an interesting note, he told the Matchroom honcho that the Baltimorean would invariably save the screen shot of the direct message that Hearn would send. So prescient!! ‘Tank’ confirmed that he’d be waiting for the message.

Eddie Hearn confirmed the moment he completed the task. But Conor Benn advised them to wait further until ‘Tank’ takes a screen shot of their conversation. However, the lightweight champion subsequently shot back, “No need. We all on the same page..

Through his Instagram story, however, Abdul Wahid (formerly Gervonta Davis) shared a screen shot of the message he received from Hearn. The Matchroom boss asks, “You interested in this fight with Conor?” In response, after a ‘thumbs-up’, the lightweight champion says, “What we doing, Eddie?

Obviously, talks will take over, screeching through different angles in the days and weeks to come. A fight with another highly volatile fighter like Conor Benn sounds like a very tempting proposition. However, it would be ill-advisable to form any opinion at this stage until something actual in the line-up comes up. Finally, let’s not forget that Benn is a welterweight boxer, so the divisional difference needs to be sorted out first.
