He revealed shocking and enlightening insights as he spoke to SHOWTIME Sports. The Mexican Boxer was once considered invincible until he lost to Dmitry Bivol. The defeat took an emotional and psychological toll on Canelo.

Furthermore, he substantiated the reasons for his unsatisfactory form. Alvarez said, “I’m not able to train 100% on those fights. For my hand, I’m not able to train 100%, but right now I’m able to train 100%. I can work with Eddie in the pads and everything.” He confessed the loss woke him up. It forced him to reevaluate his strategies and training. Moreover, he also confessed how he is able to train now and the effect of lack of training on his performance.

He said, “When you don’t train, when you don’t have that kind of training camps, you’re not confident 100% in what you do. Right, but right now, I’m just glad and happy to be able to train 100% and working with Eddie with the pads and hit the heavy bags hard. Yeah, so that made me feel confident.” However, looks like Canelo’s past performances have led to predictions of loss against Charlo.

Former champion thinks Charlo can easily defeat ‘Cinnamon’

Bernard Hopkins recently spoke to Fight hype. The Hall of Famer and former two-weight champion discussed Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo. Hopkins predicts the bout could become a “nightmare” for Canelo. He says Charlo’s style is unlike any Canelo has fought before. Charlo is younger and more determined, according to Hopkins. He thinks Charlo wants to prove Canelo’s time at the top is ending.

Hopkins says Canelo must defeat Charlo early to win. If the fight goes late, he believes Canelo’s age could affect him. Hopkins also says Charlo has a golden chance to prove himself. He has skills he hasn’t shown yet. The fight is on September 30 at T-Mobile Arena. It’s the first of a three-fight deal between Canelo and PBC.
