Tyson Fury conversed with Oleksandr Usyk earlier this year about a potential fight. Although some clips of ‘The Gypsy King’ training in his gym were shared on social media platforms, Fury’s trainer SugarHill Steward later rejected claims of him preparing Fury for the Oleksandr Usyk fight. While the negotiations between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were ongoing, Steward had stated that he prioritized Lawrence Okolie since the same had a scheduled fight against David Light. “I’m here for Lawrence. Tyson was in the gym with us, but I didn’t train Tyson. We didn’t do anything like with Usyk,” stated SugarHill.

The statements made by Steward displeased Tyson Fury’s father John Fury who subsequently branded the former as a snake. According to John Fury, Steward lied when he declared that “he wasn’t training Tyson“. “He had no need to say that, I’m waiting to see him to his face to tell him it’s a lie,” John Fury told Mirror Fighting. In addition, irrespective of the potential consequences, John vowed to confront SugarHill.

As per John Fury, ‘The Gypsy King’ who is preparing for Francis Ngannou is all in all and doesn’t require “expensive trainers” around him. In this connection, in a hyperbolic statement, John Fury said, “A pigeon could train Tyson he’s that good, honestly“. According to John, SugarHill, once “a family friend” is now an apple of discord. At this point, hence, John believes Tyson Fury should get rid of SugarHill should ‘The Gypsy King’ wish to display “any sense“.

I stand by what I say, he’s down the road as far as I’m concerned but it’s not my call, if [Tyson] had any sense he would get rid of him. All of those expensive trainers are not needed. Until he made that comment, I couldn’t sing his praises high enough,” declared John Fury. “Tyson got on with him and we thought he was a family friend, but to me, that was just terrible what he did,” he concluded.
