Former unified Lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko believes he is still undefeated despite two losses in professional boxing. According to the Ukrainian boxer, he won both his fights against Orlando Salido and Teofimo Lopez via points in the ring. In his recent interaction with Fight Hub TV, ‘Loma’ called into question the numerous low-blows Salido hit him with while handing the former his first professional defeat.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist referred to the “same situation” with Teofimo Lopez who he fought in 2020. According to Lomachenko, he did not lose any points. The statements by ‘Loma’ has sent fans into disharmony ahead of his fight against the current undisputed Lightweight champion Devin Haney.

Lomachenko’s first professional loss against Orlando Salido was indeed a controversial defeat. Despite landing more punches and exhibiting better percentages, he lost the fight while Salido went free despite landing a fair number of low blows during the whole fight. On the other hand, irrespective of being less accurate, Lopez outworked Lomachenko by landing 42 more punches than ‘High-Tech’ in the ring. However, ‘Loma’ said, “In my mind, I didn’t lose any fight in professional boxing. That’s why I sleep very well. Undefeated? Yes. In my mind, yes.”
After Michael Benson shared Lomachenko’s statements via a tweet, several people reacted to it. According to @RichardGmoney, Lomachenko has delivered “a legacy-destroying comment”.

According to @TheViolentArts, while ‘Loma’ is correct in questioning Salido, “Teofimo [Lopez] beat him decisively“. In addition, they said, “not being able to acknowledge he was beaten in a fight where he won no more than 4 rounds isn’t great“.
Salido yes, but Teofimo beat him decisively.
I understand elite athletes don’t think like us mere mortals, but not being able to acknowledge he was beaten in a fight were he won no more than 4 rounds isn’t great.
