A Knockout So Devastating, Fans Are Calling it “KO of the Year”

Joe Joyce and Zhilei Zhang recently went toe-to-toe again for their rematch bout. While the hopes were up for Joyce to show a different performance than last time, it went the same route much like the previous fight. Joyce suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of a boxer from China earlier this year. His first loss came during the 6th round of the match-up as the 38-year-old had sustained a lot of damage to his right eye. Moreover, Joyce had the chance to become the mandatory for Oleksandr Usyk next year if he won the rematch bout.

However, the rematch fight went the same way as the last one but ended even more prematurely. The first round went without much happening as both fighters just tried to find their range and weren’t committing to their punches. The second round saw ‘Big Bang’ start to throw more powerful hits that sent Joyce to the ropes. It was clear that the British boxer hadn’t changed much as he still didn’t show any head moment.

Even during the third round, Joyce didn’t commit to his punches, only intending to keep Zhang off him. However, Zhang made quick work of him and sent him to the canvas following which the referee declared the fight over. It seems the boxer should’ve accepted Tyson Fury’s offer to spar. Perhaps the result of the bout could’ve been different. Recently the fans had their say on the KO against Joyce.

As the clip of the devastating knockout surfaced on social media, it quickly went viral. The fans quickly blasted the fighter for not being able to stand up to their high expectations of him. One fan mocked the fighter for wanting to fight Tyson Fury. Furthermore, he wrote, “Bro Congrats to Zhang”.

Another fan praised Zhang for the power and the precision in his punches. He wrote, “Heavy and precise punches from Zhang. What a performance.”

Meanwhile, someone pointed out how easily Joyce was defeated stating, “He was completely put to sleep.” He then called Joyce an “overrated boxer”, stating that his comeback would be “difficult”.

Moreover, one fan called the knockout “KO of the year right there.” He shared his disbelief over the British boxer losing the fight in such a manner.

Someone else pointed out the lack of techniques displayed by the Joyce stating, “Joe Joyce blocks punches with his face.” He pointed out how ridiculous the claims of him being an “iron chin” in the heavyweight division are.

Another fan chimed in and stated that this loss was even “More devastating than last time.”

Overall fans couldn’t help but share their dissatisfaction towards Joyce’s performance after all the high expectations placed on him.
