Jordan, in the past, has taken subtle digs at Hearn for inheriting his dad’s boxing promotion. His father, Barry Hearn, is the founder of, ‘Matchroom Boxing,’ and in many ways has changed the landscape of British Boxing. Jordan’s comments were considered to be condescending by Hearn but the British promoter was ready with a sharp response. Amidst this conversation, Jordan took shots at Hearn for being handed the position in Matchroom boxing.
This ignited a vehement response from Hearn and felt the need to debate Jordan about his comments. He stated, “You’ve got this bee in your bonnet, I don’t know what it is, you brought it up on Twitter the other day and just brought it up again there “You inherited your daddy’s business”.
Hearn does not stop there but makes a personal remark. He attempts to prove that even Jordan was handed opportunities but he instead made a mess of it. He added, “You took a start-up company to what you say was £100million company, and lost the lot.”
Coming from a place of privilege, Hearn had clashed with other media reporters to defend his worth and merit in the boxing business. Let’s take a look at Hearn’s response to one such interviewer who made a similar remark.
