Lately, Deontay Wilder publicly called out Anthony Joshua for a potential fight. In his opinion, if Joshua faced him, their match would enter the category of great and classic fights. In this context, addressing the fans and their dreams, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman presented the condition under which ‘AJ’ and Wilder could enter the ring.

And ahead of Joshua vs. Otto Wallin and Wilder vs. Joseph Parker set for December 23, Sulaiman rattled the boxing world with the prospect of a match that will pose a threat to the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury.

Although the fights are yet to take place, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman presumes Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder will defeat their respective opponents on December 23. As a result, he believes that a subsequent collision between Wilder and Joshua following the Riyadh event is inevitable. On that note, Sulaiman feels ‘AJ’ vs. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ shall bring forth the mandatory challenger for the WBC Heavyweight title currently possessed by Tyson Fury.

In that connection, Sulaiman branded the upcoming Riyadh event “a natural WBC elimination tournament.” He told Sky Sports, “You have Wilder, No 1, Joshua, you have Parker, you have Otto Wallin, all those are highly ranked in the WBC. After December 23 we’re going to see a different picture in the rankings.”

It looks like Wilder and Joshua are on a collision course. That could very well be a final elimination to determine a mandatory contender for the WBC title,” he added, looking forward to welcoming a new era of boxing.

At this, one cannot help but wonder whether or not the concept of a mandatory contender for the WBC Heavyweight title will affect the upcoming Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fights.
